Shingo Workshops for Operational Excellence

Learn more about how the Shingo Model can drive your culture toward enterprise excellence by attending the Shingo Workshop Series, which includes five workshops. The first workshop in the series, DISCOVER EXCELLENCE, is a prerequisite and provides the foundational understanding of the Shingo Model and the 10 Shingo Guiding Principles. The following three workshops — CULTURAL ENABLERS, CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT and ENTERPRISE ALIGNMENT & RESULTS — can be taken in any order. These workshops take participants deeper into the Shingo Model and provide a more profound understanding of the ideal behaviors necessary to achieve ideal results within an organization. BUILD EXCELLENCE is the capstone workshop that takes all the detailed learnings from the previous Shingo workshops and teaches participants how to build systems that drive behavior which will consistently deliver desired results.

Discover Excellence

This foundational, two-day workshop introduces the Shingo Model, the Shingo Guiding Principles and the Three Insights to Enterprise Excellence™. With active discussions and on-site learning at a host organization, this program is a highly interactive experience. It is designed to make your learning meaningful and immediately applicable as you discover how to release the latent potential in an organization to achieve enterprise excellence. It provides the basic understanding needed in all Shingo workshops; therefore, it is a prerequisite to all the other workshops, and concludes with the BUILD EXCELLENCE workshop.

Systems Design

This two-day workshop integrates classroom and on-site experiences at a host facility to build upon the knowledge and experience gained in the DISCOVER workshop, and focuses on the Systems and Tools diamonds in the Shingo Model. It begins by explaining that all work in an organization is the outcome of a system. Systems must be designed to create a specific end objective; otherwise, they evolve on their own. Systems drive the behavior of people, and variation in behavior leads to variation in results. Organizational excellence requires well designed systems to drive ideal behaviors that are required to produce sustainable results.

The CULTURAL ENABLERS workshop will help you define ideal behaviors and the systems that drive them using behavioral benchmarks.

Continuous Improvement

In order for continuous improvement to be sustainable—not just happen in fits and starts—it must be made part of the culture of the organization; a matter of course every day for every team member. To make your organization’s culture truly one of continuous improvement, you need a deeper understanding of which ideal behaviors to cultivate within your workforce.

It takes you deeper into the Shingo Model™ by focusing on the principles identified in the Enterprise Alignment dimension and the Results dimension:

This two-day capstone workshop integrates classroom and on-site experiences at a host facility to solidify the knowledge and experience gained from the previous four Shingo workshops. The BUILD EXCELLENCE workshop demonstrates the integrated execution of systems that drive behavior toward the ideal as informed by the principles in the Shingo Model™. The workshop helps to develop a structured approach to execute a cultural transformation. It builds upon a foundation of principles, using tools that already exist within many organizations. It teaches you how to build systems that drive behavior which will consistently deliver desired results.

This one-day Six Sigma White Belt seminar provides an understanding of lean principles and techniques for eliminating waste (Muda). Introduction to the basic building blocks to a lean culture such as built-in quality tools, the eight wastes, 5S (5 ways to keep your place organized), visual management system, flow, pull production, Kanban, standard work, and sustaining improvements.

Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Workshop

This two (2) days seminar provides an understanding of lean six sigma principles and techniques for operational excellence deployment. It introduces the basic building blocks to an Operational Excellence culture with Design Innovation, Lean, and Six Sigma as the three pillars strategy. Lean six sigma yellow belt training includes a hands-on demonstration of traditional manufacturing versus Lean manufacturing in a K'Nex Car Factory workshop.

Lean Green Belt & Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Workshop

This course is an accelerated Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, like a one-week Green Belt boot camp. Basic knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts and principles is highly recommended. The course will teach you how to start statistically solving common quality problems and improving processes. We teach Gage R & R, which ensures the gages of your product are correct. The course will cover a majority of the tools and techniques in the Lean Six Sigma DMAIC methodology.

This course is an accelerated Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, a two-week Black Belt boot camp. Green Belt knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts and principles is highly recommended.
